Your blog is amazing. So thankful that I have found it. Keep on writing! <3
ReplyDeleteYour blog is a breath of fresh air, although I don't know you I thank God that I stumbled across your blog. It's amazing how He finds me when I need Him most. I'm just about to wrap up my first year at college and it's been so tough. Tough not as in school work, but tough as in figuring out who I am and who my friends are. I partied in high school and I still do. I didn't anticipate to. I don't even want to, I just do it because I don't have any other friends who don't go out. I really wanted to find content with the Lord and steer away from temptation but I got discouraged and gave up. I still love the Lord and have complete faith in him, I just long for a deeper connection. You see, I got involved in this group called young life (I saw that you're in it) at the beginning of the of freshman year because I was told me how awesome it was in college. I got placed in a small group with a great group of girls. They were all so genuine and I looked so forward to hopefully getting a good friendship out of at least one, but when I got there it seemed as though everyone already had their best friends, or sorority sisters. I would see photos of Facebook of a few of them going on adventures together and wondered why I didn't get an invite. It made me feel so insecure and lonely and I began to think that the girls didn't want to hang out with me because I wasn't as strong in my faith as they were. I would spend entire weekends just crying and praying. God comforted me very much but I was missing the community and didn't have anyone, or so I felt, to have in depth conversations with. I know non of the girls in my group meant it intentionally but I was so hurt and felt rejected. So, just as a reminder to you and all reading this, I pray that you find kindness in your heart to give your attention to the ones who are needing God in their life. Go hang out with someone that has nothing in common with you and I promise God will guide the conversation. Although I didn't have a great experience, I hope I can share my story with others so people can learn. You seem like an awesome and amazing girl but please don’t look past the people in the dark that need your help the most. It is hard to discern who to help and who not to help, but even in Israel’s infancy, “There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land” (Duet 15:11) Hope this inspires you a little.
ReplyDeleteWow. Talk about a breath of fresh air, this comment took my breath away! Thank you for your honesty, encouragement and advice. This stirs me to pray for you to find community that comforts as well as challenges you, and to pray for myself to be aware of my selfishness and always obey when the Lord puts people in my path who may just need a friend's love! Don't ever lose hope or believe the lie that you're unworthy and your faith isn't strong enough for someone.
